A Playful Yet Polished Bedroom Look You’ll Love
Light, airy, and effortlessly inviting—this bedroom brings vacation vibes home.
I wanted this bedroom to feel like summer never left—a light, breezy space with just the right shade of green and playful patterns that make it feel fresh and inviting. Whether you're designing a guest bedroom or updating your own, this look brings that outdoorsy charm inside while still feeling elevated and timeless.
The Thoughts Behind the Design
Starting with the perfect shade of green—Pigeon by Farrow & Ball—I knew I wanted this color to set the tone for a refreshing, outdoorsy bedroom. To add dimension and a bit of playful pattern, I paired this beautiful tongue and groove molding with the most charming striped wallpaper from Anthropologie. For the bed, I chose a solid wood frame to ground the space, and to balance the warmth of the wood tones from the bed and nightstands, I added an upholstered bench at the foot of the bed.
The table lamps might just be my favorite—the wooden base and rattan shades are full of character and perfectly complement the relaxed vibe. I layered in a sleek bronze reading light on each side for a modern touch and added function. Since the whole mood was inspired by outdoorsy charm, I curated a playful mix of throw pillows with pattern-on-pattern details to keep things visually fun yet cohesive.
The area rug, in muted green with earthy tones, anchors the room beautifully and ties everything together. It’s really the combination of white, beige, soft greens, and natural wood that gives this bedroom its breezy, nature-inspired feel—perfect for a guest retreat that feels like a getaway.
