Designing a Rustic Living Room That Feels Like Fall
Rust and amber take center stage in this cozy fall-inspired living room moodboard.
In this living room, I leaned into the warm, earthy red tones of rust and amber—the undeniable kings of fall.
The Thoughts Behind the Design
I started this fall living room moodboard with a beautiful rust-colored sofa featuring a bench cushion. The bench cushion—one long, uninterrupted seat—adds that clean, elegant look designers love. The area rug was the next anchor, packed with warm earthy tones that inspired the rest of this rustic fall decor.
For accent seating, I added light wood cane-back chairs that bring in organic texture and keep the palette grounded and balanced. A fluted wooden coffee table was the perfect centerpiece—it adds warmth and echoes the artwork above the sofa for a cohesive fall vibe.
The rattan floor lamp is easily my favorite piece. Its sculptural shape, natural texture, and soft glow add cozy lighting and just the right amount of visual interest. I included round ottomans that match the tones of the rug and work perfectly for casual seating. The styling is finished with fall throw pillows, a cozy blanket, and timeless botanical wallpaper—every detail tying into this warm and inviting fall living room look.
